A little About teh Author
Growing up in a Christian family divided between Seventh-day Adventist and Missionary Baptist teachings, faith was the cornerstone of our household. However, the unexpected loss of my father in a car accident when I was only 12 sent my life into a tailspin.
In the aftermath of his death, I developed a fixation on proving my invincibility. I recall stepping onto a football field, full of arrogance and defiance, taking on the biggest players without any protective gear — just to make a statement. While I made the team, my arrogance prevailed, leading me to quit over a disagreement with the coach.
Seeking another outlet, I found solace in the gym and got involved in Kai Shen Khan karate. This new environment turned me into a target for those looking to assert themselves, and I became embroiled in countless fights. Though I never initiated them, I never backed down either. My teenage years are mostly remembered for fights, one of which spanned an entire weekend. The Chief of Police, recognizing a lost young man in need of direction, steered me to his office instead of a jail cell like many others. This intervention led me to live with my grandfather and step-grandmother in a larger city, granting me a fresh start.
There, I submerged myself in work, becoming a workaholic as a mechanism to avoid any troubles. This strategy kept me out of trouble for a time, especially after the passing of my grandparents. However, I soon found myself in a toxic relationship that thrust me into a diverse range of experiences — from running a repossession company, a bounty hunting business, and a dive bar, all while maintaining a full-time job in Information Technology (IT).
When this tumultuous relationship ended due to betrayal, I reverted back to my refuge: my IT job. I aimed to excel, becoming a sought-after expert in the field. But as my professional stature grew, I felt a growing void within me. Loneliness set in, and I found myself living with a friend, with little else to anchor me.
In this period of introspection, I reconnected with some childhood friends, leading to a pivotal moment when I uttered a desperate prayer for guidance. My plea was answered in the most unexpected way: a Facebook suggestion brought an ex-girlfriend from two decades ago back into my life. With courage, I reached out, and she, in her wisdom, took a chance on me. She is now my rock, my wife, and the foundation that keeps my life steady.
So in short my wife is a big reason why I am doing this Blog. She help keep me grounded in my faith. She also makes sure that I am able to relate and pulls me back when start getting a little over enthusiastic about something
To anyone reading this, no matter how dark or chaotic your journey might seem, there’s always a beacon of hope. Sometimes, all it takes is one prayer, one chance encounter, to turn everything around.
Why Pseudonyms and Anonymity?
A pseudonym is a fictitious name used by an author to conceal their identity. This can be for a variety of reasons, such as privacy, personal safety, or artistic expression. By using a pseudonym, an author can indeed put more emphasis on their words and message rather than their personal identity or fame.
Biblical Standpoint on Humility and Boasting:
The Bible has numerous passages that stress the importance of humility and the pitfalls of pride.
“God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” Philippians 2:3
The use of a pseudonym can align with this principle if the intention is to prevent self-glorification and keep the focus on the message. By remaining anonymous, an author might avoid the pitfalls of pride or the temptation to seek personal recognition.
Pros of Using a Pseudonym from a Biblical/Humility Perspective:
- Focus on the Message:
- Anonymity ensures that the emphasis stays on the content and not the author.
- Avoiding Temptation:
- By not attaching one’s name, there might be less temptation for pride or seeking personal glory.
- Protection:
- The Bible has instances where individuals hid their identity for safety, like Esther. Similarly, a pseudonym can offer protection to authors.
